Dental Staff

Providing the most advanced dental care in a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere are the priorities of Michael Sophocles DMD. Dr. Sophocles is among the most accomplished and regarded general dentists in the county. He is diligent in his pursuit to stay current in providing the profession’s leading dental care procedures while utilizing state-of-the-art technology, supplies and equipment. Dr. Michael George Sophocles received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Gettysburg College, Pennsylvania, in 1990 and received his dental degree from Temple University School of Dental Medicine in 1995. Dr. Sophocles was born in Media, and grew up in Malvern. A second-generation dentist, he continues a 40-year tradition that began with his father, Dr. George Sophocles. Growing up, Dr. Michael Sophocles had the unique opportunity to observe his father practicing dentistry by just hanging around the dental office and eventually assisting chair side. He enjoyed getting to know and serving the residents of the surrounding areas of Paoli, PA so much that he decided to go into dentistry. His favorite hobbies outside of his love for dentistry, include golf, hiking, biking, downhill skiing, travel, and all Philly sports teams. He lives in Devon, PA with his wife Elizabeth their 3 sons and their dogs, Bandi a Shiba Inu rescue and Duke a mixed German Shepard. He enjoys spending time with his expanding family including his 2 young adult children along with his two grandsons.

Dr. Sharkey has been with the practice since 1995. He graduated Cum Laude from Duquesne University with a B.S. in Biology, and earned his D.M.D. from University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He holds a Specialty Certificate in Periodontics from Loyola University of Chicago School of Dentistry. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Oral Medicine at Penn Dental where he treats patients in the Infectious Diseases Clinic program in the Personal Care Clinic. He is Course Director of Periodontics and Course Co-Director of Local Anesthesia at Community College of Philadelphia Dental Hygiene Program. He has lived in Center City Philadelphia since 1992.

Elizabeth joined our team in July of 2016. She has been in the dental field as an Expanded Functional Dental Auxiliary, graduating from Harcum College in 2006. She maintains her license through the state of Pennsylvania to place dental restorations. She now is the Office Manager and handles most of the dental insurance claims and financials in our practice and truly loves what she does. She enjoys getting to know each and every patient and always has a smile on her face.

Elizabeth resides with her husband Michael in Devon and has a growing family of 5 children, 2 grandchildren Hayden & Connor, and 2 pups. She enjoys spending time with her family going for hikes, biking, skiing, paddle and walks on the beach.

Tonya joined Dr. Sophocles as a dental assistant in 2007. She loves that she is able to help patients feel confident in their smiles. She is caring and compassionate with all of her patients, and helps put each person at ease.

Tonya lives in Atglen with her husband Joe, their daughter and their dog Nash. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, visiting local breweries, running, and the outdoors.

Cheri has been at Dr. Sophocles office for the past 18 years of her 33years as a dental assistant. She has seen a lot of change in dentistry and enjoys learning about the newest technology of dentistry. When the Cerec was introduced in the practice she was highly trained to assist in making permanent restorations.

Cheri resides in Aston with her husband of 27 years and her 3 wonderful sons and of course her 2 precious fur babies Sara and Ruby. In her spare time she enjoys hanging out with friends, going on long walks and being the caretaker of her family and friends pets.

Kathy is honored to be celebrating her 30th year as a dental hygienist with Dr. Sophocles. She attended Bloomsburg University as a Chemistry major and received her Dental Hygiene degree at Montgomery County Community College. She loves attending continuing education courses to further educate herself for her patients. She treats her patients as family while providing them with excellent care.

Kathy lives in King of Prussia with her husband Tom and has two adult children who she raised in Paoli. In her free time she enjoys boating on the Chesapeake, spending time in sunny Florida and visiting her beautiful granddaughter in California.
